Picketwire Honors our Community’s Pillars of the Arts with 2014 Gala

,

The Otero County Health Department Tobacco Prevention Program was proud to present the Picketwire Players’ 2014 Gala. In an effort to support positive activities for families and children, the Tobacco Prevention Program worked closely with Picketwire on this year’s Gala to pay tribute to the community’s Pillar of the Arts — those people who support arts programs and family activities in our community.

travis-masar-top-chefThe Picketwire Gala Committee planned an exciting affair of music, fun and a lavish menu planned and cooked by La Junta’s own celebrity chef, Travis Masar. Travis has traveled and cooked all over the world including Alaska, Wales, U.S. Virgin Islands, Vermont, Czech Republic, Thailand, Taiwan, and Vietnam. He spent time at Aria in Las Vegas and at Denver’s Uncle restaurants as well as restaurants in Philadelphia. Picketwire is honored to have Chef Masar’s expertise guiding the dining experience at this year’s Gala. Assisting Travis with the meal is the Denver catering firm Thyme Table Kitchen.

Gala_EntertainmentThe Gala entertainment was the stylish swing band, Sophisticated Swing — under the direction of Clara Lee Stafford — plays for the evening. A Silent Auction — with enticing, pampering and fun gifts — rounds out the evening. All of this takes place in La Junta’s historic Koshare Indian Museum and Kiva.

The Picketwire Gala is an extraordinary, glamorous event that honors our own Pillar of the Arts. The event is open to all Patrons, Players and community members, but hurry because the seating is limited. Tickets are $25 per person.

All proceeds from this event fund Powering Picketwire II to pay for electrical and lighting upgrades in Picketwire’s historic WPA building. These upgrades are necessary for both safety and production needs.

Special thanks to our sponsors: First National Bank, Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home, the Koshare Indian Museum, Village Inn, East Otero School District and Source Gas.
