Coming up at the Picketwire Center for Performing and Visual Arts, 802 San Juan Ave. the powerful and moving musical, Next to Normal.  Productions Dates will be April 26, 27, 28, 29 @ 7:30pm.

Please be aware that Next to Normal shines a light on various difficult issues facing families every day and in keeping with the writer’s original vision, the show features some mature content and language that may not be suitable for all ages.

Next to Normal, under the direction of Tracey Salzbrenner, explores how one suburban household copes with crisis and mental illness. Winner of three 2009 Tony Awards, including Best Musical Score and the 2010 Pulitzer Prize, Next to Normal was also chosen as “one of the year’s ten best shows” by critics around the country, including The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, Rolling Stone, and The New York Times.

Dad’s an architect; Mom rushes to pack lunches and pour cereal; their daughter and son are bright, wise-cracking teens, appearing to be a typical American family. And yet their lives are anything but normal because the mother has been battling manic depression for 16 years. Next to Normal takes audiences into the minds and hearts of each character, presenting their family’s story with love, sympathy, and heart.

Bringing this incredible musical to life is the cast of Stephen Mathews, Katie Lagergren, Kaydence Lagergren, Noah Nunez-Rebel, Andrew Benjamin, and Erik Woodall. Our Talented crew includes Director Tracey Salzbrenner, Assistant Directors, Cameron Salzbrenner and Desiree Goheen, Vocal Direction: Dean Reese and James Lind, Tech: Zach Zamora, Jansen Edgier, and Lilly Klein.  This deeply moving piece of theatre showcases vocal talent with an energetic pop/rock score and provides a wonderful opportunity for audiences to explore dramatic material.

Next to Normal will be presented on the Picketwire stage, April 26, 27, 28, 29 @ 7:30pm. Tickets are $18 and will be available online at starting April 18th and in box office April 24th-29th from 5:30pm – 7:00 pm.
