This March at Picketwire

We are getting ready to start off the season strong with Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple: Female Version. Auditions will be held March 6th and 7th at Picketwire Center and will begin at 7:00 PM. As always, Picketwire looks forward to having a variety of actors and actresses come through the Stage Door, whether it be the first time or the hundredth time, and this year is no different.

2018 is the Year of Revivals for the Picketwire Players, but that doesn’t mean that our fantastic lineup of revived shows are only available to past Players. Fresh new faces are always welcome to try out and join. While the production of a female version of The Odd Couple may not have as many places for actors as actresses, that doesn’t mean that the men can’t become part of the family. The women will need a crew to help them get an A+ production off the pages and onto a brilliantly lit stage for the masses to witness. With every show there is not only a call for performers, but almost always a need for the people behind the scenes, the ones that really make the stage come alive in the dark, the techies if you will.

Any person can be a techie, someone that doesn’t quite have the voice for an audience but still a feel for the stage. This less recognized job doesn’t require special skills like knowing sound or lighting, but can be as simple as sweeping the stage between performances or moving a plant from stage right to just a hair more stage right. So, we ask that not only actors and actresses of all experiences stop by, but also any body that would like to join a dramatic and comedic family, whether it be this show or the next; the Year of Revivals has many spots to fill to make sure it exceeds expectations.

This March, Picketwire Center itself is getting a fresh facelift. We have a great crew hard at work inside the building, making sure that every Patron this year enjoys their walk through the halls. Our well loved and seasoned carpet has been torn up! Hopefully this improvement will give the building a sense of revivement to go along with the shows. All of the red and gold patterned carpet has gone away and before months end we will welcome in the sweet smell of new carpet throughout the auditorium, hallway, stairs and our Ken Schroll Memorial light booth!
Speaking of the light booth, after months of late nights and early afternoons, we are scheduled to finish up and be fully operational before opening night of  The Odd Couple! Tickets go on sale April 9th!

Don’t forget about the post coming up talking about our 50 Fabulous Years!
