Join Picketwire for an Exciting Week!
This week has been packed full of excitement here at Picketwire Center! We have the Masked Singer: Christmas Edition, in person box office, Colorado Gives Day, and a call for directors!
Colorado Gives Day
Tuesday, December 10th was Colorado Gives Day, a 24-hour period of online giving and a movement to celebrate and encourage philanthropy throughout Colorado. The Picketwire Center and its Directors greatly appreciate all who have donated and will donate to our 2025 Patron Drive. Here’s a reminder of what was posted on Colorado Gives Day:
Founded in 1968, Picketwire Players have grown into an indispensable jewel in the Arkansas Valley. Picketwire has educated and entertained thousands of people, introduced hundreds to live theatre, helped develop tomorrow’s plays and artists, and transformed the cultural climate of our town. La Junta’s Picketwire remains steadfast in its commitment to artistic excellence and strives to create a theatre with high standards.
As a non-profit, we rely on the generosity and goodwill of our community. Our Picketwire Patrons account for nearly one-third of our budget.
On this Colorado Gives Day, we hope and encourage you to become a Picketwire Patron today. Picketwire has been blessed to have had our amazing Picketwire Patrons that have kept us going for 56 years!! Together, we can ensure that the Picketwire Center remains a cornerstone of our community, a place where history and culture are cherished and celebrated
A Call for Directors
Picketwire Players are seeking members for their Board of Directors. Each year there are four open positions to serve three-year terms (2025-2027). If you are interested in serving on the Picketwire Board, please send a letter of intent. Include why you wish to serve as a Director on the Picketwire Board.
See below for criteria, duties and contact information.
CRITERIA
- All candidates must have participated in a Picketwire production or been a Patron within the past three years.
DUTIES
The board consists of at least 12 community members that meet the first Sunday of every month. The board is responsible for approving upcoming productions, handling day-to-day operations of the building, promoting the organization and its productions/events, and any other general business that directly affects Picketwire.
Individual board member duties include assisting with productions (box office, ushers, etc.) and outside appearance as needed, as well as helping with upkeep of the building and property. One board member must also serve as production manager for each production.
