Picketwire Presents a Concert About Coming Home

coming home logo 1The thrill of coming home never changes. Coming home in the fall is especially exciting. There are school activities, homecoming games and the anticipation of crisp fall weather with the changing colors of fall leaves. It invokes special memories and a feeling of comfort. Picketwire Players celebrate the importance of home during a special concert this Friday, September 12th. Beginning at 7:00 pm, the audience will experience all the joys and sentiment of coming home through song.

Many of Picketwire’s veteran performers will be spinning their own home memories for our audience: Grant Elliott, John Eubank, Laura Hillstad, Katie Lagergren, Dawn Pollmiller, Natalie Summers and Joe Trainor. Returning to La Junta just to sing in this concert are Anthoney and Jennifer Sandoval and Steve Simpson. Also performing will be “The Cowboys” from Picketwire’s Christmas show: Whitney Belew, Grant Elliott, Stephen Mathews, RJ Nelson, and Curtis Peacock. We’re not quite sure what they’ll surprise us with, but you know it will be entertaining.

Accompanying these singers will be familiar pianists Sally Kappel, Barbara Hjelmstad and Sandy Malouff. Guitarists Steve Simpson and Malcham Muth, with drums by Micah Summers, will accompany several numbers. The concert will end with an audience participation sing along.

This concert is a benefit for Powering Picketwire II, which funds improvements to lights and sound in the Picketwire theatre. Veteran actresses Kelly Jo Smith and Jeannie Larsen will provide narration during the concert. There is nothing like coming home and nothing better than getting to hear Picketwire’s wonderful voices celebrate being home.

Our down home entertainment kicks off Early Settlers’ Day festivities as they celebrate “Our Story – Some Bigger, None Better”.  Join us for our Coming Home concert September 12th at Picketwire Center for Performing and Visual Arts, 802 San Juan Avenue in La Junta, Colorado.
